Benefit of the doubt

The Market tends to anticipate economic and financial reality. Since December last year, the market meltdown has told us what the beginning of 2009 will look like. Now it will likely tell us how far regulators and market participants are willing to go in order to reform the financial system. And after so much pain, the market will probably allow for some hope and give them the benefit of the doubt.
